Analysis and Approaches (Higher Level) is designed for students with strong algebraic ability who thrive on intellectual challenge and rigorous mathematical thinking. The course develops advanced analytical skills across algebra, functions, trigonometry, statistics, probability, and calculus, with significantly greater depth and abstraction than SL. Students engage with complex numbers, proof techniques (including induction and contradiction), advanced trigonometric identities, vector methods, statistical distributions, and extended calculus concepts.
Emphasis is placed on constructing formal mathematical arguments, generalising patterns, and solving multi-step, non-routine problems with precision and clarity—preparing students for competitive university pathways such as mathematics, engineering, physics, economics, and other quantitative disciplines.
